Souths Leagues Club Chef - Souths Leagues Club Mackay Salary: AUD $79,500 - $80,000 per year plus superannuation Position: Chef Location: South Mackay, QLD 4740 Employment Type: Full-time (at least 38 hours per week) Employer: Southern Suburbs Football Club (Mackay) Inc t/a Souths Leagues Club Mackay About the role Souths Leagues Club and Souths Suburban Bowls Club are more than places to eat, drink and gather-they are places where great food, teamwork and community spirit come together. We are seeking a qualified Chef who is as comfortable working behind the pass as they are preparing and presenting bistro classics with a modern twist.

If you thrive in a fast-paced kitchen and take pride in consistently delivering high-quality food, we would love to hear from you. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will prepare, cook and present dishes from our Bistro Menu, as well as meals for events and functions.

Key responsibilities

- Plan menus, daily specials, and food preparation requirements in coordination with the Executive Chef.
- Prepare, season, and cook a wide variety of meals across bistro, function, and event menus, ensuring food preparation, portion control, and quality meet the highest standards.
- Manage stock levels, place orders for foodstuffs and kitchen supplies, receive deliveries, maintain stock rotation, and minimize food wastage.
- Monitor dish quality at all stages of preparation, cooking, and presentation.
- Enforce strict workplace health, safety, and hygiene regulations, ensuring compliance with food safety programs and temperature controls.
- Maintain, sanitize, and care for kitchen equipment and tools of the trade.
- Train, mentor, and supervise apprentices, trainees, cooks, and other junior kitchen staff.
- Liaise with front-of-house staff,



function coordinators, and management to resolve service issues and accommodate special dietary requirements.

What are we looking for?

- A relevant trade qualification in Commercial Cookery.
- Experience working as a Chef in a bistro, club or similar commercial kitchen.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and cooking a broad Bistro Menu.
- Experience in a high-volume kitchen environment will be highly regarded.
- Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and stock-control procedures.
- A positive attitude and robust work ethic.
- Strong teamwork, communication and time-management skills.
- The ability to remain calm and organised under pressure.
- Availability to work split shifts, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
