About the Role:

Reporting to the Financial Controller you will support the Sydney and Brisbane offices, around 120 team members, with a range of generalist HR activities, employee relations, recruitment and onboarding, learning and development, and other office‑based initiatives, ensuring strong commercial and technical outcomes.

What will I be doing?

As well as cyclical activities and projects, some of the day‑to‑day responsibilities may include:

- Provide accurate and business‑focused HR advice, support and coaching to managers and team members on a range of people matters including employee relations, performance management, remuneration, conflict resolution.
- Manage end‑to‑end recruitment activities, including onboarding and induction.
- Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, forms and templates in line with legislative and ISO standards.
- Manage and maintain the ELMO HRM system to streamline day‑to‑day operations.
- Maintain employee data in payroll system ensuring the system remains the trusted source of truth.
- Manage apprenticeship activities, including induction, sign up, Tafe enrolment and progress monitoring, apprenticeship completion and Government incentive claiming.
- Drive the activities of the Graduate, Intern and Cadet Programs in consultation with Engineering and Construction managers.
- Identify skill gaps in consultation with managers and arrange required training.




- Lead annual performance and development review for all employees.
- Provide general HR administration in offboarding, variations to employment conditions.
- Prepare monthly HR reports, and other HR reports and metrics.

About You:

- Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience in an HR Generalist role, ideally within the construction industry
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or Business would be beneficial
- Deep knowledge of HR best practice, industrial instruments, and employment legislation
- Strong stakeholder partnership skills with the ability to build trusted relationships
- A leader in their role, committed to owning the outcomes and delivering quality outcomes
- Proven leadership, influencing, and commercial acumen
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism
- Well‑developed organisational, time management and decision‑making skills
- Experience preparing Board‑level papers, strategies, and recommendations
- Positive, proactive, collaborative and enthusiastic approach
- Hands‑on and systems‑oriented, with HRIS implementation experience, experience with ELMO would be beneficial
- Australian citizen or permanent resident with unlimited working rights within Australia, no overseas applications
