Overview

Success Officer - Higher Degree Research (Identified) at the University of Current South Wales (UNSW). This full-time, continuing position is located in New South Wales, Australia, and involves engagement, progression and success support for higher degree research candidates, with a focus on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates.

Responsibilities

- Provide culturally responsive guidance to HDR candidates and help them navigate university processes.
- Lead initiatives that support recruitment, connection, retention, progression and completion of HDR students.
- Build trusted relationships with candidates, staff, communities and partners; contribute to ongoing development and improvement of Indigenous HDR programs and services.
- Collaborate with Nura Gili, faculties and central service teams; report to the Manager, HDR Engagement and coordinate with other senior stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong understanding of contemporary issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, informed by lived experience and Indigenous research knowledge.
- Experience supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, researchers or communities in education, research or related environments.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills; ability to plan, coordinate and deliver work independently and in high-volume settings.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; tact and discretion with sensitive matters.
- Experience developing and delivering programs that support positive student experiences; ability to maintain accurate records, analyze trends and produce high-quality reports.
- Strong influencing and negotiating skills; ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

About You

As this is an identified position, applicants progressing through the recruitment process will be required to provide evidence of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity in accordance with UNSW’s established process. Information about the evidence requirements and available support will be provided during the recruitment process.

You will lead with lived experience and cultural knowledge; you will bring the ability to work collaboratively with HDR candidates, staff and communities and contribute to Indigenous HDR program development.
