About the role
Hornet Engineering Pty Ltd is seeking experienced HC / MC Truck & Dog Drivers to join our transport operations team on a full-time basis or Lifestyle roster (4 Day weeks) . Based in Heatherbrae, NSW 2324, this role is crucial to our logistics operations, ensuring the secure and timely delivery of freight across the Hunter and Sydney regions. As a HC / MC Truck & Dog Driver, you will be responsible for operating heavy combination vehicles, maintaining vehicle safety standards, and upholding our commitment to professional and reliable transport services.
Key responsibilities
- Operate heavy combination vehicles (truck and dog configurations) safely and efficiently across assigned routes
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure all safety equipment and mechanical components are in working order
- Maintain accurate logbooks and documentation in compliance with road transport regulations and company policies
- Adhere to all traffic laws, weight regulations, and driving hour restrictions as stipulated by relevant authorities
- Deliver freight to designated locations on schedule whilst maintaining cargo integrity and security
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, management and customers regarding delivery status and any issues that may arise
- Maintain a professional appearance and manner when interacting with customers and other stakeholders
- Participate in vehicle maintenance schedules and report any mechanical faults or safety concerns promptly
- Comply with workplace health and safety requirements and company operating procedures
What we're looking for
- Valid HC and MC Heavy Combination licence or HR ready and willing to upgrade licence
- Proven experience operating truck and dog configurations in road transport
- Current and valid driver's licence
- Competency in maintaining accurate logbooks and transport documentation
- Knowledge of road transport regulations, speed restrictions, and fatigue management requirements
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to conduct basic vehicle inspections and identify maintenance issues
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently whilst adhering to strict safety and compliance standards
- Physical fitness to perform the demands of long-distance driving and manual tasks
- A commitment to safety and professional conduct on the road
