About this opportunity
Kempe Engineering is a fluid power specialist with a strong footprint across Brisbane's industrial and mobile plant sectors — and we're growing. We need a switched-on Hydraulic Technician who takes pride in doing quality work and wants to be part of a team that actually values their trade.
This isn't a revolving-door role. We invest in our people, and most of our senior techs started exactly where you're standing now. If you're the kind of person who reads a schematic before reaching for tools and can explain a fault without hand-waving — read on.
What you will be doing:
No two days are identical. Across workshop and field, you'll handle:
- Diagnosing and repairing hydraulic faults on mobile plant and industrial systems
- Rebuilding cylinders, pumps, motors and directional control valves
- Reading and interpreting hydraulic schematics and circuit diagrams
- Hose assembly, fabrication and high-pressure testing
- Planned preventative maintenance and emergency breakdown response
- Writing clear, accurate service reports and job documentation
What you bring:
Must Have:
- 3+ years of hands-on hydraulic experience in industrial, mobile or high-pressure systems
- Solid fault-finding ability — you diagnose with logic
- Comfortable reading hydraulic schematics
- Current driver's licence and full Australian work rights
Nice to Have (We'll Train the Rest):
- Forklift, EWP or White Card tickets
- Hands-on time with Parker, Bosch Rexroth, Danfoss and Eaton equipment
What this position offers you:
- Competitive hourly rate benchmarked to your experience — we pay to retain valuable people
- Real overtime availability, not just a line in an ad
- Full uniform and PPE kit on day one
- A team that's been working together for years — low turnover for a reason
- Clear pathway into senior technician and supervisory roles for those who want it
