The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is an independent statutory agency of the Australian Government responsible for implementing the world-leading National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). The NDIS represents one of the most significant social reforms in Australia’s history, designed to enhance quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability.

About the role

As a graduate,



you will have the opportunity to undertake a broad range of varied and engaging work, aligned with your skills, experience, and the business area in which you are placed. You may be involved in:

- conducting research and analysis, and reporting on findings
- building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, and providing advice to resolve issues
- managing your own workflow and completing allocated tasks
- contributing ideas and identifying opportunities to improve business processes
- identifying issues and supporting their resolution
- working under general supervision within established procedures and guidelines
- undertaking procedural, administrative and operational tasks that contribute to the NDIA’s objective of building a world-leading National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Graduate rotations

During the 12-month program, you will complete at least two rotations across different business areas. These rotations are a key part of your development, providing valuable on-the-job experience under the guidance of experienced employees.

Your business area and manager will work with you to identify suitable rotation opportunities and ensure you are supported throughout. This experience will build your understanding of the agency and expose you to a variety of roles and functions across the NDIA.

During the program and beyond

From day one, we are committed to supporting your career growth. As a graduate, you will have access to tailored learning and development opportunities, along with mentoring to help you build capability and confidence.

You will develop the skills, behaviours, and networks needed to contribute effectively to the Australian Public Service (APS), supported through a structured development program. You will also participate in the NDIA’s leadership development program, which includes targeted training and real‑world case studies to support your growth as a future leader.

These opportunities will help you understand the broader public service landscape, strengthen your professional network, and build the skills needed to make a lasting impact.

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates progress from APS Level 4 to APS Level 5, providing a strong foundation for continued career growth within the APS.

To successfully complete the program, graduates must:

- complete all required graduate development program components
- complete a six-month probation period (if not already completed as a current APS employee).
