Compassion in Action â Pastoral Care Volunteering
HammondCare pastoral care volunteers offer gentle spiritual and emotional support to older people living in our aged care homes. This meaningful role is ideal for someone who feels called to share comfort, encouragement, and compassionate presence with those who may benefit from it.
As a pastoral care volunteer, youâll also remain connected and involved with a local Christian church, helping ensure residents receive care that honours their faith, dignity, and wellbeing.
Your kindness can bring peace, reassurance, and a sense of connection to someone who truly values it.
Youâll supplement and complement the work of our Residential Pastoral Care Coordinator, and under their direction you may:
- Support people to meet their spiritual needs
- Nurture spiritual development
Skills required for this role
- High level of interpersonal skills including robust empathy and listening skills.
- Pastoral Care training for example Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education, or you could attend HammondCare pastoral care training- Spiritual Care Series, in preparation to becoming a pastoral care volunteer.

Exciting opportunity for Ministry accredited study
HammondCare, in partnership with Tabor College, is now offering an undergraduate Certificate in Ministry that blends internship experience with higher education study. The program includes on site training, supportive supervision,
and meaningful hands on experience in pastoral care within both ministry and care settings.

Your impact

Requirements
The commitment is one hour per weekly/fortnightly for a minimum of 6 months. We would be delighted to talk with you about a suitable day and time during the week (Monday to Friday) between 9am-4pm.
18 years or older ⢠National Volunteer Police Check arranged and NDIS Worker Screening Check paid for by HammondCare â¢
