Overview
Cathara Consulting is seeking a UX Business Analyst for a 12-month contract with its client. Working within a multidisciplinary program team, the successful candidate will combine business analysis, human-centred design, stakeholder facilitation, user research, technical writing and usability testing to define and validate digital and HR system solutions.
The UX Business Analyst will apply a human-centred lens to requirements planning, management, elicitation, analysis and documentation across digital projects; support the Program Manager and BA Lead in program delivery through user research, information architecture, interaction and interface design, usability reviews, project management and technical writing; facilitate stakeholder workshops and collaborate with technical, change, testing and other project team members; document business requirements for system owners and front-end users using personas, user flows, user journeys and persona-based user stories; translate business requirements into functional and non-functional specifications; and contribute to gap analysis and related activities between current-state and future-state HR processes.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated ability to take a holistic, human-centred approach to digital product design, covering user research, interface, interaction and information design, project and time management, technical writing and usability testing.
- High proficiency in user research, design thinking, reporting and usability testing.
- Experience designing user experiences across a range of digital products.
- Experience working closely with Business Analysts,
Change Analysts and Developers to embed a user-centred approach in digital projects.
- Strong analysis, problem-solving, planning, communication and coordination skills.
- Proficiency with Jira, Confluence and Share Point, plus Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio, Figma or comparable prototyping tools.
- High-level analytical and organisational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to think laterally and conceptually.
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining confidentiality and data privacy.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and maintain quality and integrity.
- Proven stakeholder engagement and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Initiate and lead user-centred business analysis, documentation and design activities that deliver intuitive, efficient and accessible digital solutions.
- Elicit, analyse, document and trace business and functional requirements through workshops, interviews and focus groups with vendors, project team members and stakeholders.
- Conduct user research to understand business and public user contexts, operational needs, concerns and requirements.
- Document research findings through personas, user journeys, wireframes and prototypes that support future-state design and align with functional requirements.
- Support HR system implementation or enhancement by collaborating with solution architects, subject-matter experts, stakeholders and vendors.
- Support configuration reviews, solution validation and change impact assessments.
- Work with the organisational change management team on training materials and end-user readiness activities.
- Monitor project scope and deliverables with the program team.
- Prepare and execute test plans and cases, usability and accessibility reviews, and user acceptance testing to validate and refine solutions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant government accessibility, privacy, security, legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Deliver project documentation on time and to agreed quality standards in alignment with DPS project management frameworks and the Project Manager's direction.
- Manage sensitive information and maintain records in accordance with information management policies.
