Lead Optical Network Data Management Specialist

Contract duration – 12-month contract with potential extension
Location of work – ACT

DFP Recruitment is seeking an experienced Lead Optical Network Data Management Specialist to join a high-profile enterprise environment responsible for managing critical communications and network infrastructure across data centres and geographically distributed networks. This is an exciting chance to work within a complex, large-scale infrastructure environment supporting both project delivery and operational network services.
Role responsibilities

- Install, configure, and support network, server, and associated ICT infrastructure within data centre environments.
- Undertake fibre optic and copper cabling installation, termination, testing, and rack preparation activities.
- Support the operation, maintenance, and enhancement of enterprise network infrastructure.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex networking and infrastructure issues.
- Monitor and optimise network performance to ensure service reliability and availability.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, build guides, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, project teams, and external vendors to deliver infrastructure outcomes.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with organisational policies, standards, and safety requirements.

Skills

- Minimum 5 years' experience engineering, operating, and supporting CIENA optical transport networks, including DWDM-based Data Centre Interconnect (DCI)



solutions.
- Strong knowledge of optical network architecture, design, implementation, provisioning, testing, optimisation, and operational support.
- Demonstrated experience deploying and managing optical transport infrastructure within enterprise and data centre environments.
- Experience with fibre connectivity, carrier services, and end-to-end network service commissioning.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain technical documentation, including:
- High-Level Designs (HLD)
- Low-Level Designs (LLD)
- Build and implementation guides
- Operational procedures

- Hands-on experience with data centre operations, including rack installation, structured cabling, and hardware lifecycle management.
- Experience working within large-scale enterprise or government environments.
- Familiarity with telecommunications carriers, circuit delivery, provisioning activities, and fault management.

Qualifications & Certifications

- Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Network Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Desirable certifications include:
- Ciena Certified Network Associate/Professional
- Cisco CCNA or CCNP
- Optical Networking, DWDM,



or OTN certifications
- Structured Cabling and Fibre Optic certifications
