Position: Environmental Engineer
Position Type: Full time
Salary: $120,000 plus superannuation per annum
Location: Glendenning NSW 2761
Our client is seeking an Environmental Engineer to join their team in Glendenning, New South Wales.
The role provides technical environmental engineering expertise throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and design through to construction and project completion. This includes assessing environmental risks and impacts, developing mitigation and control measures, preparing environmental management documentation, monitoring environmental performance and ensuring projects are undertaken in accordance with applicable environmental legislation, standards, government guidelines and client requirements.
Main Duties / Responsibilities including, but not limited to:
·Provide technical environmental engineering advice and support to Project Managers, Supervisors and Foremen on environmental matters associated with electrical construction projects.
·Assess and analyse the potential environmental impacts of construction activities on soil, water, air, noise and surrounding environments and develop appropriate control and mitigation measures.
·Establish, implement and maintain procedures for the identification and assessment of environmental aspects associated with project activities, products and services, and determine their potential environmental impacts and associated risk ratings.
·Assess proposed changes to construction processes, methodologies and operations to identify potential adverse environmental impacts and recommend appropriate engineering controls and mitigation strategies.
·Develop and maintain the Company's Environmental Aspect Register, including the identification and assessment of raw materials, chemicals and utilities used as process inputs and outputs including waste, recycled materials, water discharge and air emissions.
·Identify environmental risks associated with Electrical's construction activities, processes,
products and services and develop appropriate environmental control strategies.
·Undertake environmental impact assessments associated with electrical construction systems and recommend measures to prevent, minimise and manage identified environmental impacts.
·Assess and develop environmental controls relating to runoff and stormwater, erosion and sediment, noise and dust, contaminated soil, construction resources and waste management.
·Develop and recommend engineering solutions and sustainable construction practices to minimise environmental impacts and improve the environmental performance of projects.
·Prepare, implement and review Environmental Management Plans and site-specific environmental management documentation in accordance with government guidelines, environmental requirements and project specifications.
·Integrate environmental sustainability principles and environmental engineering controls into electrical and communications projects across multiple sectors.
·Review project designs, construction methodologies and operational processes to identify environmental risks and recommend modifications or control measures where required.
·Develop project-specific environmental inspection, testing and monitoring requirements in accordance with company policies, regulatory requirements and site-specific environmental conditions.
·Conduct environmental inspections, assessments and audits to evaluate project compliance and the effectiveness of implemented environmental controls.
·Monitor environmental performance across projects, analyse findings and prepare technical reports and recommendations for management and project teams.
·Investigate environmental incidents,
non-conformances and emerging environmental risks and recommend corrective and preventative measures.
·Provide project teams with environmental planning and technical support throughout the planning, construction and completion phases of projects.
·Conduct and/or assist with training sessions relating to environmental requirements, environmental controls, sustainability practices and applicable regulatory requirements.
·Assist Electrical in maintaining and continually improving its Environmental Management System and pursuing AS/NZS ISO 14001 accreditation.
·Maintain current technical knowledge of applicable environmental legislation, standards, industry practices and emerging environmental engineering requirements.
Requirements:
·Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Environmental Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
·Diploma of Project Management or equivalent project management knowledge is desirable.
·At least two (2) years of relevant experience.
·Previous experience in environmental engineering, environmental impact assessment or environmental management within construction or a related industry.
·Knowledge of environmental legislation, regulatory requirements and environmental management systems.
·Construction Industry General Safety Induction.
·Current Driver's Licence.
·Ability to undertake the above duties competently and exercise professional judgement in environmental matters.
·Familiarity with AS/NZS ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
·Understanding of environmental impact assessment, environmental risk management and construction-related environmental controls.
·Strong written and verbal communication skills.
·Strong competency in Microsoft software.
·Ability to manage time, priorities and project documentation effectively and efficiently.
·High attention to detail and quality.
·Strong stakeholder communication and organisational skills.
