This Commonwealth agency plays a significant role in preserving and sharing an important part of Australia’s cultural history.
It operates across several sites nationally and is currently undergoing a period of transformation and increased investment, growing its workforce and modernising the systems that support it. It’s an interesting time to join, with the organisation working towards becoming a genuine employer of choice within its sector.
Its Workforce and Culture team sits at the heart of this transformation, delivering the full spectrum of HR services – from learning and development and recruitment, to wellbeing, health and safety, and employee relations. It’s a close, collaborative team where individual contributions are genuinely seen and valued.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR Administrator to join a busy Workforce and Culture team in an APS4 capacity, with a particular focus on Learning and Development.
You’ll be responsible for coordinating a range of learning activities, maintaining training systems and records, monitoring L&D; requests and supporting employees and managers with their training needs. You’ll also provide broader HR administration, including managing shared inboxes, processing requests and supporting recruitment and onboarding activities.
The role offers the opportunity to broaden your HR experience across a range of functions while developing strong exposure to L&D; within an Australian Government environment. If you’re organised, proactive and enjoy being the person who keeps things moving, this could be a great next step in your HR career.

Reporting to the Manager Operations, Workforce and Culture,
you’ll manage the day-to-day coordination of training and career development activity, alongside broader HR administrative support.

- Support recruitment administration, including advertising, shortlisting and issuing offers
- Coordinate new starter building tours and other onboarding logistics
- Provide secretariat support to relevant internal committees
- Contribute to HR reporting, policy research and short-term projects as required
The Ideal Person
You’re likely to be early in your HR career, or already working in an HR administration role, and keen to broaden your experience across a genuine cross-section of HR disciplines.
You bring a naturally organised approach to your work and take real pride in getting the details right, because in an HR administration role, the details are what keep everything else running smoothly.
You will bring the following skills and experience:
- Demonstrated experience supporting HR administration functions, with efficient and accurate outcomes
- Ability to interpret, research and apply relevant HR-related legislation, policies and procedures
- Well-developed organisational and time management skills, with strong attention to detail
- Clear communication and stakeholder management skills, and genuine comfort working within a small team

- Experience working within the Australian Public Service or a similarly regulated environment
Salary
- $79k – $86k + Super
- Non-ongoing (6 Months), full-time
