The Company
Our client is a Heavy Equipment Maintenance and Mine Services company that has been operating for over 5 years in the Western Australian mining sector. Due to substantial growth, our client is seeking multiple experienced S26 Supervisor’s to join their site team and oversee heavy mobile plant maintenance activities, FIFO ex Perth. Roster options available as follows: 12/9, 2/2 or 2/1.
The Role
Working in the East Kimberley Region of Western Australia, the S26 Supervisor will be responsible for supervising and coordinating maintenance activities across a fleet of heavy mobile plant.
The equipment fleet includes CAT, KOMATSU, HITACHI and VOLVO machinery including excavators, trucks, graders and light vehicles.
Working closely with site management, maintenance personnel and the client, responsibilities will include:
- Supervising Heavy Diesel Mechanics, Fitters, Servicepersons and other maintenance personnel
- Coordinating daily maintenance and repair activities
- Allocating work and managing daily priorities across the maintenance team
- Conducting pre-starts, toolbox meetings and shift handovers
- Monitoring planned and breakdown maintenance requirements
- Coordinating breakdown response and ensuring equipment is returned to service efficiently
- Providing technical support and guidance to maintenance personnel
- Ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely and to the required standard
- Monitoring quality of repairs and completed maintenance work
- Ensuring personnel comply with site procedures, SWMS, JHAs and isolation requirements
- Managing permits and ensuring appropriate controls are in place prior to work commencing
- Liaising with operations regarding equipment availability and maintenance priorities
- Completing maintenance documentation, reports and shift records
- Reporting equipment defects, recurring faults and major maintenance requirements
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping across workshop, field service vehicles and work areas
- Promoting a positive safety culture across the maintenance team
The Candidate
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Diesel Fitter who has progressed into a supervisory position within mining or heavy mobile plant maintenance. You will need to be confident supervising tradespeople in a field maintenance environment while still possessing the technical knowledge required to assist with diagnostics, breakdowns and complex maintenance issues when required.
The successful candidate will be organised, safety-focused and capable of managing competing maintenance priorities while maintaining a productive and positive site team.
Essential Criteria
- Current Section 26 / S26 Supervisor qualification
- Australian-recognised Heavy Diesel / Heavy Vehicle trade qualification
- Valid Australian C Class Drivers Licence
- Police Clearance must be provided for this role
- Previous supervisory experience within mining or heavy mobile plant maintenance
- Strong understanding of mine site maintenance and safety requirements
- Experience coordinating planned and breakdown maintenance
- Ability to lead and supervise a team of tradespeople
- Ability to complete maintenance and shift reporting requirements
- Ability to pass ongoing Drug & Alcohol Screens
- Ability to pass a Pre-Employment Medical
- Full Working Rights in Australia
Highly regarded candidates will have
- Have strong field service and breakdown experience
- Be confident troubleshooting complex mechanical faults
- Have experience coordinating maintenance across a mixed mobile plant fleet
- Have strong leadership and communication skills
- Be able to effectively allocate labour and prioritise maintenance activities
- Have experience liaising directly with mine site operations and client representatives

Working Days & Hours
- 12/9, 2/1, 2/2 Roster
- Day Shift Only
- Travel Paid
- 12.5 hour days
Remuneration
This role is a permanent position, employed on a casual basis. Depending on experience the pay rates will be between:
- Casual Pay Rate: $80.00 to $85.00 Per Hour (Flat)
- + Super on all working hours
