Mechanical Design Draftsperson

Are you a Mechanical Design Draftsperson who likes seeing what you design actually get built?

AustCorp Executive has been retained by one of our clients, an established Australian engineering and manufacturing business who are looking to add an experienced Mechanical Design Draftsperson to its Sunshine Coast team.

This is a hands-on mechanical design role working across both existing products and new project-specific solutions, taking designs from concept and 3D modelling through to detailed fabrication drawings and manufacture.

We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates from fabrication, mechanical equipment, pumps, process equipment, water/wastewater or industrial manufacturing environments.

The Role

Working closely with engineering, projects and workshop/fabrication teams, you will:

- Create and modify 3D mechanical parts, assemblies and models
- Produce detailed manufacturing and fabrication drawings
- Prepare general arrangement, assembly and component drawings
- Develop designs from concepts, sketches, measurements and engineering requirements
- Modify existing products for project and site-specific applications
- Maintain drawing revisions and design documentation
- Work directly with workshop and fabrication personnel to resolve manufacturing issues
- Support projects from initial design through to fabrication, assembly and delivery
- Assist with design documentation for quotations and tenders where required

About You

We are looking for someone who is mechanically minded and understands how products are actually fabricated and assembled.

Ideally, you will bring:





- Strong professional 3D mechanical design/drafting experience
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor or similar 3D mechanical design software
- Experience producing drawings used directly for manufacture or fabrication
- Understanding of materials such as stainless steel, aluminium, structural steel, sheet metal or plastics
- Exposure to welding, machining, fabrication or mechanical assembly
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills
- Ability to work closely with engineers, project teams and workshop personnel

Experience within water/wastewater, pumps, process equipment, pipework, tanks, vessels, industrial equipment or fabricated products would be highly regarded.

This is not an architectural or building drafting position — we are looking for someone with genuine mechanical, manufacturing and fabrication capability.
