The Company
Our client is a large, well-established corporate with a significant Melbourne footprint and a national operational presence. The Role
The Group Procurement Manager will own indirect spend across the business including MRO, CAPEX, transport, and warehousing, and other indirect categories. This is a hybrid strategic/tactical role: you'll set category strategy and lead complex negotiations, while also staying close enough to the detail to drive tangible cost outcomes and keep stakeholders confident in delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead a team across the Procurement function to support and develop them further
- Developing and executing category strategies across MRO, CAPEX, transport & warehousing, and other direct categories
- Leading end-to-end sourcing and tendering processes, including RFP/RFQ management and contract negotiation
- Identifying and delivering cost-out and value-improvement initiatives across the indirect spend portfolio
- Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders across operations, finance, supply chain, corporate, and site leadership to align procurement activity with business priorities
- Managing supplier performance and relationships, including risk management and contract compliance
- Providing spend visibility and reporting to senior leadership, with a focus on measurable savings and value delivery
- Coaching and influencing key stakeholders on procurement best practice and category management
About You
You're an experienced procurement skilled with a strong track record across indirect categories in a large, complex organisation. You're equally comfortable setting strategy and rolling up your sleeves to get a deal over the line.
- Excellent leadership qualities, able to develop and coach a diverse group of procurement professionals
- Proven stakeholder management skills, with the credibility to influence senior operational and finance leaders
- Solid commercial acumen and a track record of delivering measurable cost savings
- Confident negotiation and contract management capability
- The ability to balance strategic category planning with hands-on tactical delivery
- Experience working in a matrixed or multi-site environment (highly regarded)
- Tertiary qualifications in supply chain, business, or a related discipline (preferred, not essential)
