For more than 48 years, St Francis Social Services (SFSS) has stood alongside young people, families, people seeking asylum and refugees experiencing significant social and economic disadvantage.

Guided by our values of Welcome, Respect and Empower, we deliver highly specialised, trauma-informed programs through:

Centre 360 Youth and Family Service

Providing counselling and support for financially disadvantaged young people and their families.

House of Welcome

Supporting people seeking asylum and refugees through transitional housing, casework, employment pathways and practical assistance.

As demand for our services continues to grow, supporting more than 115 people each night with housing and support, we are strengthening our organisational foundations to ensure long-term sustainability and impact.

We are now seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join our leadership team and help shape the future of SFSS.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Finance Manager plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the financial sustainability,



integrity and compliance of the organisation.

This is a hands-on position that combines strategic financial leadership with operational excellence. You will work closely with the CEO, leadership team, Board and program managers, providing high-quality financial insights that support mission-driven decision making and effective service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

- Lead monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting

- Maintain general ledger integrity and oversee end-of-month and end-of-year processes

- Prepare statutory financial statements, funding acquittals and compliance reports

- Coordinate external audits and statutory reporting requirements

Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning

- Lead organisational budgeting and forecasting processes

- Develop financial models, scenario planning and variance analysis

- Support funding submissions and program cost modelling

- Provide strategic financial advice to support organisational decision making

Financial Control & Compliance

- Strengthen and maintain financial controls and governance frameworks

- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and funding requirements

- Manage GST, FBT and payroll-related obligations

- Support organisational risk management activities

Systems & Process Improvement

- Optimise financial systems and processes

- Drive advanced utilisation of Xero to improve efficiency and reporting

- Enhance financial workflows and system integrations

Cashflow & Treasury Management

- Manage organisational cashflow and liquidity

- Develop cashflow forecasting and sustainability reporting

- Oversee banking and payment processes

Leadership & Business Partnering





- Partner with program leaders to support service delivery and funding outcomes

- Provide financial guidance to the CEO, Executive Team and Board

- Contribute to strategic planning and organisational growth initiatives

About You

You are an experienced finance professional who is motivated by purpose and enjoys working in a collaborative, values-led environment.

Essential Experience

- Strong experience in financial control, reporting and governance

- Significant experience within the not-for-profit, community services or grant-funded sector

- Advanced proficiency in Xero (essential)

- Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards and compliance obligations

- Experience managing audits, budgets and financial reporting cycles

- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and leadership skills

Highly Regarded

- Experience with government funding and acquittal reporting

- Experience in SCHADS Award environments

- Experience using Xero across multi-program or cost-centre organisations

- Experience implementing finance system improvements and integrations

- Strong IT and systems capability
