My client is a leading engineering fabricator located in Smithfield. They design and build electromechanical equipment for a variety of municipal, industrial and mining applications.
Right now they are looking to add to their engineering team by appointing a senior mechanical engineer. This is a newly created role.
In this role you will get hands on with major projects but also lead/mentor a small team of skilled mechanical engineers and draftspeople to design, develop and optimise mechanical systems and components.
Candidates will most likely have at least a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 5 years post graduate experience in a similar role.
Key Responsibilities include:
1. Conceptualising and creating mechanical designs for new products and systems using common CAD packages. The ability to learn/adapt to new CAD systems is critical.
2. Further development of design to create detailed specifications and analysis and validations.
3. Adapting/utilising AI to improve workflows and streamline repetitive design jobs.
4. Providing technical support to operations.
5. Provide project management support for specific projects.
6. Development of technical and quality documentation.
7.
Provide training and mentorship to junior staff.
In addition to your relevant tertiary qualifications, you should also possess:
- A proven history of successful mechanical or machinery project delivery.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, design tools and software.
- Experience adapting and integrating new technologies in the design process.
- The ability to mentor a small dedicated design team.
- Well developed problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- The ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in a cross functional team and with C-suite senior staff.
