Tonkar is an established Wollongong-based fabrication and engineering business providing practical, high-quality fabrication services to industrial customers.

We are looking for a capable and reliable Fabricator / Boilermaker to join our team.

This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys general fabrication work and can confidently work from drawings through to a finished product.

About the role

Your work will include a broad mix of:

- Structural and general steel fabrication

- MIG welding

- Cutting, grinding, drilling and preparation of materials

- Assembly and fitting of fabricated components

- Reading and working from engineering drawings

- Use of workshop machinery and equipment

- Material handling using overhead cranes and forklifts where qualified

- Checking your own work for dimensions and quality

- Assisting with general workshop activities as required

Our work is varied, with jobs ranging from straightforward general fabrication through to larger engineered components and equipment.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

- Has experience in steel fabrication

- Can confidently read and work from fabrication drawings

- Has sound MIG welding and general fabrication skills

- Can accurately measure,



mark out and assemble components

- Takes pride in producing good-quality work

- Is reliable, practical and able to work effectively as part of a small team

- Has a strong approach to workplace safety

A Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade or equivalent trade qualification would be well regarded, although applicants with strong practical fabrication experience are also encouraged to apply.

Forklift, overhead crane, dogging or other relevant tickets would be advantageous but are not essential.
