THE ROLE
We're looking for a Product Design Engineer or Industrial Designer with a passion for design and new technology. You'll be involved in the full product development cycle — research, design, prototyping, testing and launch — working with our multi-disciplinary team, clients and suppliers. This role suits a creative problem-solver who looks at existing products and sees how they could work better.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Analyse product specifications and requirements to create designs that can be manufactured efficiently
- Develop parts and products from concept designs using SolidWorks
- Produce concept renders and sketches (KeyShot) for client presentations
- Review, improve and maintain existing products
- Prepare 2D/3D engineering drawing packages for onshore and offshore manufacturing
- Build,
modify and test prototypes with our Mechanical Workshop team
- Develop and carry out product testing for durability, reliability and serviceability
- Work closely with electrical designers and project managers to ensure product requirements are met
- Prepare manufacturing documentation: BoMs, detail drawings, work instructions and product manuals
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or Product Design Engineering
- Strong SolidWorks skills; proficiency in KeyShot, Adobe Suite and Microsoft programs
- Sound knowledge of sheet metal manufacture and plastic/injection-moulded part design
- Exposure to offshore manufacturing
- Creative problem-solving, strong organisation and attention to detail
- Able to work autonomously or within a team
