About the role
Sandhurst Catholic Early Childhood Education and Care is seeking a Human Resources Advisor to join our team on a full-time basis in Bendigo, VIC 3550. This is a strategic HR role that will play a vital part in supporting our organisation's growth and ensuring we maintain a positive, compliant, and engaged workforce. As a HR Advisor, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive human resources services across recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and workplace development. This position is integral to fostering a supportive and professional workplace culture that reflects our Catholic values and commitment to excellence in early childhood education and care.
Key responsibilities
- Recruitment and selection: Managing full recruitment cycles including job advertising, screening applications, conducting interviews, and onboarding new employees
- Employee relations: Providing support and advice to staff and management on employment matters, grievance procedures, performance management and workplace conduct
- Compliance and policy: Ensuring the organisation adheres to relevant employment legislation, including Fair Work Act requirements, and maintaining up-to-date HR policies and procedures
- Training and development: Identifying learning and development needs, coordinating training programmes, and supporting staff capability and career progression
- Performance management: Supporting managers in implementing performance review processes and managing performance conversations
- Health, safety and wellbeing: Promoting workplace health and safety initiatives and supporting employee wellbeing programmes
- HR records and reporting: Maintaining accurate HR records, preparing management reports,
and ensuring data security and privacy compliance
- Strategic HR support: Providing advice to senior leadership on HR strategy, workforce planning, and organisational development initiatives
What we're looking for
- Qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent qualified HR experience
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in an HR generalist or HR advisory role
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment law, including the Fair Work Act and relevant award conditions
- Demonstrated experience in recruitment and selection processes, including candidate management and onboarding
- Proficiency in employee relations, including conflict resolution and performance management support
- Experience with payroll processes and leave management systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with staff at all levels
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Proficiency with HR information systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Understanding of early childhood education and care sector considerations is highly desirable
- A commitment to Catholic values and the mission of Catholic education
- Current Working With Children Check and National Police Clearance
