Are you an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person looking to gain work experience, build current skills and earn a qualification?
The Northern Land Council (NLC) is looking for an Administration Assistant Trainee to join our Regional Development team in Nhulunbuy.
This traineeship is a great opportunity to learn administration skills while completing a Certificate III qualification. You'll receive on-the-job training, support and mentoring to help you develop your skills and build your confidence in the workplace.
No office career experience? That's okay. We're looking for someone who wants to learn.
About the Role
As an Administration Assistant Trainee, you'll support the day-to-day running of the regional office while learning a variety of administrative and office skills.
Your work may include:
- Assisting with filing, records management and other office administration tasks.
- Helping with incoming and outgoing mail, emails and front desk enquiries.
- Booking travel and assisting with meeting and diary arrangements.
- Supporting Regional Development projects and activities.
- Completing the study requirements for your traineeship.
- Following workplace policies and health and safety procedures.
What We're Looking For
Someone who is reliable, eager to learn and enjoys working with people.
What you’ll bring:
- Year 10 education or an equivalent level of literacy and numeracy suitable for completing the traineeship
- Willingness to learn basic computer and office systems;
- Ability to communicate respectfully with different people;
- Willingness to learn how to organise and prioritise work;
- Reliability and commitment to completing both workplace and training requirements.

We offer
- A base salary of $56,954 per annum plus 15% superannuation paid on Base and District Allowance
- Salary sacrificing up to $15,900 + Meal Entertainment and Holiday Accommodation benefit up to $2,650 per year.
- Other benefits under our Enterprise Agreement include:
- - District allowance Pro Rata of up to $9,926.01 (DA4) per annum for individuals with dependents and $6,114.93 (DA3) without dependents.
- Generous leave provisions 5 weeks annual leave, 18 days personal leave;
- Paid Christmas close down;
- Upon completion of 12 months of service an Annual airfare with a net (in hand) value of $3,177
