Concrete Pump Operator | Full-Time | Sydney Eastern Suburbs
Experienced concrete pump operator looking for a good crew and consistent work?
We're Sydney Piling, a specialist piling and foundations company working predominantly around Sydney's Eastern Suburbs and beaches. We're a team of around 40 people and we're looking for an experienced concrete pump operator to join us full-time.
Unlike some of our other roles, this isn't an entry-level position. We're looking for someone with a minimum of two years' experience operating concrete pumps who is comfortable taking responsibility for their pump and the job around it.
What does the role look like?
You'll be responsible for setting up and operating the concrete pump safely and efficiently, coordinating concrete trucks coming in and out, communicating with the site team and making sure the pour runs smoothly.
A big thing for us is looking after your equipment. We expect our pumps, vehicles and gear to be kept clean, maintained and treated properly. We're looking for someone who takes pride in their equipment rather than simply jumping out of the truck at the end of a pour and calling it a day.
You'll also be representing Sydney Piling when you're out on jobs, so you need to be respectful and professional when dealing with clients, builders, concrete suppliers and other trades.
There are two main ways you could work within the company.
You could work as a standalone pump operator, moving between projects and providing pumping services to our different piling, hand piling and construction crews.
Alternatively, you could become part of one of our machine piling crews,
working with the same team and equipment regularly and becoming an integral part of that crew.
It's not just about pumping concrete.
This is a slightly multifaceted role.
There will be times when you're not pumping, and we expect everyone in the company to be willing to get stuck in and help the wider team when needed. That could mean helping around the yard, moving equipment, assisting a crew or taking care of other jobs that need doing.
We're not looking for someone who says, "That's not my job."
We're looking for someone who takes ownership, works as part of the team and is happy to help get the job done.
What are we looking for?
You need at least two years' concrete pumping experience and the ability to confidently set up, operate and clean down a pump. You should understand how to manage concrete trucks and pours, work safely around plant and equipment and maintain high standards of cleanliness and upkeep.
You'll also need to be physically fit, reliable and comfortable working outdoors.
Just as importantly, we're looking for the right attitude. Someone hardworking, organised and respectful who communicates properly with clients and gets along with the rest of the crew.
We operate a strict no-drug policy. We take safety seriously and expect people to turn up fit for work.
What do you get?
This is a full-time position with consistent work and weekly pay, on time every week.
You'll have your own work vehicle and quality equipment to do your job properly.
You'll be joining a tight-knit company where people know each other and work together rather than being another number on a huge site.
There's also room to progress. You can become a key standalone operator within our pumping operation, become embedded within one of our piling crews, take on greater responsibility and potentially move towards leadership positions as the company continues to grow.
Interested? Here's how to apply.
We get plenty of applications, so if you're genuinely interested, send us a short cover letter with your application.
Nothing formal and no essay. Just tell us:
- A little bit about yourself.
- How long you've been operating concrete pumps and the types of pumps you've worked with.
- The types of concrete pumping jobs you've worked on.
- Any other construction, plant or machinery experience you've got.
- Your licences and relevant tickets.
- What you're looking for from your next role and why you're considering a change.
- And finally, tell us you've read the whole ad and understand our no-dickhead policy and the expectation that this is a team role, not just sitting on a pump.
That's it.
If you're an experienced pumpie who looks after your gear, takes pride in your work, treats people properly and isn't afraid to get stuck in, we'd like to hear from you.
