Veterinary Nurse – Maternity Leave Cover (Fixed-Term, Full time – 6 Months)

At Oxley Highway Vet Hospital, we are seeking an experienced and compassionate Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team on a 6-month maternity leave cover contract, with the potential for ongoing employment thereafter.

About the Role

You will be working full-time alongside experienced vets and nurses, providing high-quality nursing care across a wide-ranging and interesting caseload. Duties include (but are not limited to):
Assisting our veterinarians with routine exams and procedures
Providing surgical and hospital nursing care, including anaesthetic monitoring
Delivering pre- and post-operative patient care, as well as offering grief support to clients
Administering medications and preparing treatments as required
Managing the admission and discharge process for surgical and hospital patients




Communicating treatment plans and updates to clients
Performing blood collection, testing, and IV catheter placement
Assisting with diagnostic imaging (x-rays and ultrasounds)
Supporting dental care, including scale and polish and performing dental x-rays
Contributing to day-to-day nursing tasks to support our vets and team in providing the highest standard of patient care

What We’re Looking For
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a qualified Veterinary Nurse
Confidence in both surgical and medical nursing
Robust anaesthetic monitoring skills
Excellent communication and client care abilities
Ability to work well within a close-knit team
A calm, organised, and proactive approach under pressure
