As a major metropolitan health service, it caters to a community of 300,000 people. The Emergency Department handles over 75,000 patient presentations annually, with an admission rate of approximately 40% and a significant number of high acuity cases.

The department comprises 37 consultants, including 3 ACEM examiners. Accredited by ACEM for 2 years of Advanced Vocational training,



the Emergency Medicine Department maintains a solid educational program.

Position

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in managing various aspects of ED presentations with minimal FACEM support or supervision, operating at a senior ED trainee level or above. They should possess the ability to provide clinical and disposition decisions while supervising junior ED medical staff.

Key qualifications and skills required for this position include essential airway management and resuscitation skills, with previous experience in ICU and anesthetics being desirable.

Requirements

To be eligible for this position, candidates must hold AHPRA Registration or be eligible for it. ACEM Trainees/ ED Senior Registrarsor International Medical Graduates assessed by ACEM and deemed Partially Comparable are welcome to apply. Additionally, Emergency Medicine Doctors from NZ, UK, and Ireland who are eligible for provisional registration are also encouraged to apply.
