Position InformationNimbin Central School is a K–12 school located 31kms from Lismore and 34kms from Kyogle in a sub-tropical hinterland on the far north coast, sharing a rich cultural connection with the Widgabal Wai-bal people of the Bundjalung nation.
Nimbin has a diverse community that reflects the past and celebrates the future through innovation and sustainability.There are currently 245 students at the school with a 17% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student population.
There are 3 primary classes running a staged curriculum delivery for approximately 65 students.
The school is well resourced and has dedicated staff that know, value and care for all students embedding student voice into our practice.
The school values diversity, creative and critical thinking and fosters a culture of collaboration and consultation between staff, students, and the wider community.
There is a strong focus on Aboriginal education, Visible Learning, Explicit Teaching and differentiation in teaching and learning.
In addition to the academic pursuits the school provides a broad range of activities including the performing arts, cultural, leadership and sporting experiences.Selection CriteriaIn addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary Demonstrated capacity to contribute and lead a school culture that embraces exceptional teamwork, communication, interpersonal and organisational skills,



building positive partnerships within the school and in the wider K- 12 school communityEvidence of highly developed and collaborative leadership with a demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement aligned with the School Excellence Plan with a focus on transition.
Proven leadership capacity in managing effective behaviour strategies through the school wellbeing initiatives, attendance and learning support processesCapacity to build, inspire and mentor staff to implement future learning and innovative pedagogy using an integrated approach to curriculum delivery and to maximise student engagement and learningGeneral Selection Criteria1.
Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice2.
Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs3.
Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams4.
Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents5.
Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning6.
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policyConditionsAn unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
