Job DescriptionRSR Consulting My Cafe Manuka, a busy café located in the Manuka Arcade, Griffith ACT, is seeking an experienced Chef to join its kitchen team on a full time basis.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Chef across food preparation, cooking, menu development, and daily kitchen operations while maintaining high standards of quality, food safety, and customer service.
Benefits Salary in the range of AUD $79,000 to $80,000 per annum plus superannuation Full-time, stable employment Opportunity to work in a well-established café in the Manuka dining precinct Supportive, team-oriented workplace environment Task & responsibilities Assist the Head Chef with menu planning, daily specials, and continuous improvement of menu offerings, including estimating food costs and ordering food supplies Prepare, cook, and present high-quality breakfast, lunch, and café menu items in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation, maintaining consistency and portion control Discuss food preparation issues with the Head Chef, kitchen staff, and front-of-house team to ensure efficient service and customer satisfaction Demonstrate cooking techniques and advise cooks and kitchen assistants on cooking procedures Explain and enforce hygiene regulations, food safety, cleanliness,



and workplace health and safety standards in accordance with relevant regulations Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of cooks and kitchen assistants to ensure efficient kitchen operations Monitor food preparation and ensure all dishes are produced in a timely manner during busy service periods Monitor stock levels, minimise food wastage, and assist with ordering, storage, and stock rotation, including freezing and preserving foods where required Maintain accurate stock, ordering, temperature, and food safety records, and prepare kitchen documentation required for internal and external audits Train, mentor, and provide guidance to cooks and kitchen assistants to maintain quality and productivity Ensure kitchen equipment is used, cleaned, and maintained correctly Qualification & experience Relevant cookery qualification at Diploma level or higher is preferred Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Chef in a fast-paced café, restaurant, or similar hospitality environment Strong knowledge of food preparation, commercial cookery techniques, and food presentation Demonstrated ability to assist the Head Chef and supervise kitchen staff Excellent organisational, time management, and multitasking skills in a fast-paced kitchen Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene, and WHS requirements Passion for preparing fresh, high-quality meals and delivering excellent customer experiences About Company My Café Manuka is a café located at Manuka Arcade, 1/22 Franklin St, Griffith ACT ****, in one of Canberra's premier dining precincts.
