You'll find all this just two hours from Sydney or 35 minutes from Newcastle, on the banks of the picturesque Hunter River.Maitland Hospital is a major Rural Referral Hospital providing services to the expansive Lower Hunter Region.
Having opened its doors on a new facility in January ****, the recent hospital provides a broad range of services in a comfortable and modern environment.What you'll be doingThe primary purpose of this position is to provide high quality clinical care to patients in a complex clinical environment under the supervision of specialist staff.
The Medical Officer will perform work at their level of competence to evaluate, diagnose and treat inpatients admitted to the Maitland Hospital.




The Medical Officer will have the opportunity to develop expertise in a variety of adult general medicine including sub-acute and sub-specialities such as oncology, geriatrics and rehabilitation.
MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.A minimum of 2 years' experience working in the Public Health System as a medical officer.
Demonstrated recent relevant experience in clinical medicine and the ability to work with an appropriate level of independence within a supervised complex clinical environment.Demonstrated ability to work effectively & harmoniously in a multidisciplinary team.
This includes the provision of supervision, support and leadership to Junior Medical Officers and Medical Students.Demonstrated verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to communicate and interact with a wide variety of people in clinical and non-clinical settings.Willingness or demonstrated capacity to participate in afterhours weekend and on-call rosters and undertake overtime as required.Evidence of commitment to self-education and continued professional development with skills in teaching and facilitation.
