The RoleA Speech Pathologist in the Neuro Stream (Stroke) at Prince of Wales Hospital plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to patients with complex neurological conditions.
The position involves comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of speech pathology interventions in line with Speech Pathology Australia and NSW Health guidelines, ensuring optimal patient outcomes within required timeframes.
The clinician applies advanced clinical reasoning and independent judgement to manage complex cases, communicates effectively and sensitively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams, and provides specialist consultation to support coordinated care.
Responsibilities also include education of patients, families, staff, and students; supervision of junior clinicians; and active participation in quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award and eligibility for membership for Speech Pathology AustraliaExtensive post graduate clinical experience in speech pathology in an acute setting including working in stroke across acute, sub-acute and rehabilitation phasesExcellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levelsAbility to provide in-depth advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence,
