About Racquet Club
Racquet Club is one of Australia's fastest-growing racquet sport and hospitality businesses, with venues across Sydney, Canberra and the Gold Coast — and an ambitious national expansion underway. More than just courts, our clubs are designed to be vibrant social spaces where people come to play, connect, eat, drink and belong.
We're excited to launch our newest premium club on Sydney's North Shore, featuring 6 tennis courts and 4 padel courts, bringing together tennis, padel, hospitality and community in one destination.
About the Role
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who lives and breathes hospitality and sport. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the venue — courts, café/bar, coaching programs, events and team — with full accountability for the member experience and the club's commercial performance.
We're specifically looking for someone with a strong hospitality background, and ideally tennis experience given the scale of our tennis offering (6 courts). Racquet sport experience is highly valued for this role — you'll be overseeing a large coaching program across both tennis and padel, so familiarity with how a tennis program runs day-to-day is a real advantage.
What You'll Do
1. On-Site Staff Leadership & Management
Recruit, train, develop and inspire a high-performing team of full-time and casual staff (Front Desk, Operations and Maintenance) to consistently meet Racquet Club's elite standards
Conduct regular audits of staff performance — correct POS procedures, accurate payment processing, and adherence to customer service protocols
Create and manage the club roster to ensure optimal coverage during peak and off-peak times while strictly adhering to the operational budget
Foster a positive, professional work environment and motivate staff to uphold the club's core values and "vibe"
2. Coaching Operations & Programming Oversight
Coordinate and oversee weekly schedules for all coaches (full-time and casual) across tennis and padel, aligning availability with peak member demand to maximise court occupancy and revenue
Monitor and track contracted hours for all coaching staff; for casual staff, validate that reported hours match actual coaching sessions
Conduct regular check-ins to ensure coaches uphold standards of punctuality, professional presentation and high-quality member engagement
Partner with the coaching and events team to align coaching schedules with tournaments, social leagues and corporate clinics
Build and optimise the weekly programming calendar, including social competitions, coaching programs, tournaments,
corporate events and private functions
Develop initiatives that increase court utilisation, particularly during off-peak periods
3. Hospitality & Food & Beverage
Lead the café/bar operation, including menu execution, supplier management, stock control and margin performance
Deliver an exceptional customer experience across every touchpoint, from arrival through to departure
Maintain outstanding venue presentation and service standards
4. Operational Excellence & Facility Atmosphere
Maintain rigorous standards of cleanliness and order across all areas: tennis and padel courts, toilets, recovery areas, change facilities and lounge spaces
Conduct daily "member-ready" walkthroughs to ensure the club is spotless and all equipment (rental racquets, ball machines, etc.) is in perfect working order
Coordinate routine repairs and safety checks, identifying potential risks and ensuring full OH&S; compliance for members and staff
Oversee the availability of essentials and ensure the facility is consistently stocked with necessary club supplies
5. Financial Integrity & Inventory Management
Oversee venue budgets, labour costs, COGS, revenue performance and weekly reporting
Oversee all income streams — memberships, court hire and merchandise — ensuring every sale is recorded accurately within the system
Manage Pro Shop and bar inventory with a methodical audit system to minimise shrinkage and maintain optimal stock levels
Implement strict control over ball inventory (separating current retail stock from coaching balls), ensuring assets are used responsibly and stock is rotated correctly
Manage the operational budget, identifying opportunities for growth while controlling costs and expenses
6. Systems & Platform Management
Ensure correct and consistent use of Square and Playtomic across the venue for bookings, point-of-sale and reporting
Maintain accurate data across both systems to support membership tracking, court utilisation and revenue reporting
7. Customer Experience & Member Relations
Act as the primary "face of the club", building robust, lasting relationships with members and guests to drive retention and satisfaction
Manage subscriptions, renewals and inquiries, ensuring member records are kept accurate and up to date
Address member concerns or complaints promptly and professionally, safeguarding the club's premium reputation
Manage member feedback, online reviews and local marketing initiatives
8. Marketing, Events & Strategic Growth
Assist in implementing marketing strategies and outreach programs (corporates, schools, beginner clinics) to attract new members
Serve as the on-site point of contact for the marketing team, providing high-quality assets (photos/videos) and ensuring branding remains consistent with club standards
Lead the delivery of social events, leagues and corporate functions, ensuring a seamless experience from setup to pack-down
Support sponsorship activations and venue partnerships
Stay updated on industry trends to introduce new services or products based on member demand
9. Reporting, Communication & Launch Readiness
Provide fortnightly (bi-weekly) reports to senior management on KPIs, membership growth, financial performance and staff productivity
Maintain clear, effective and methodical communication with owners, staff and external partners
Lead "Launch Day" preparations, ensuring every detail — from court technology to facility aesthetics — is 100% operational for the public
About You
5+ years' experience in hospitality management as a Venue Manager, General Manager, Club Manager or similar
Tennis experience strongly preferred, given the scale of our tennis program (6 courts); padel or broader racquet sports experience also valued
Proven experience leading teams and managing venue financial performance
A natural host with exceptional customer service skills and a passion for creating memorable experiences
Strong commercial acumen with an understanding of labour management, margins and revenue growth
Experience with rostering, POS systems (Square) and booking platforms (Playtomic) — or similar systems, with the ability to pick these up quickly
Highly organised, proactive and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Detail-oriented with pride in maintaining exceptional operational standards
A hands-on leader who enjoys supporting their team on the floor
Current NSW RSA and eligibility to hold liquor licensing responsibilities
First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Available to work a flexible roster, including evenings and weekends
What We Offer
Competitive salary package
The opportunity to lead the launch of a flagship venue from opening day
Clear career progression within one of Australia's fastest-growing racquet sport companies
Autonomy to run your venue and make a genuine impact
Free court access, staff discounts and a fun, energetic workplace
The opportunity to help shape one of Australia's most exciting sport, hospitality and community brands
Racquet Club is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all team members.
