About the Visiting Fellowship
Applications for a **** Visiting Fellowship at the Peter McMullin Centre on Statelessness, Melbourne Law School, are now open.
The Visiting Fellowship Scheme gives statelessness researchers, practitioners and educators an opportunity to engage with the work of the Centre and to strengthen international collaborations.
For **** the Centre is offering
one (1) funded Visiting Research Fellowship
to carry out research work in an area related to statelessness.
The suggested duration is one to two months, and the Fellowship is available to be taken up between

About the Peter McMullin Centre on Statelessness
Established at Melbourne Law School in **** through a philanthropic gift from Peter and Ruth McMullin, the Peter McMullin Centre on Statelessness describes itself as the world's only university-based interdisciplinary centre dedicated to studying and finding solutions to statelessness.
Its work runs across three connected spheres: research, education,



and public policy engagement and outreach, with a particular focus on the Asia-Pacific region alongside its international work.
Past Visiting Fellows have come from Belgium, Austria, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Recent Zealand, Poland, Thailand, Pakistan, Iraq and India, so the scheme has a track record of hosting scholars and practitioners from a wide range of jurisdictions.
Funding and facilities
Funding of
up to AUD 6,000
to support the costs of (international) travel as well as accommodation in Melbourne for the duration of the Fellowship.
A workspace at the Centre, plus library and computer access.
There is no application fee.
Visiting Fellows from outside Australia are responsible for obtaining and funding any necessary visas or insurance.
Who can apply
Applications are invited from applicants ranging from postdoctoral early-career researchers to tenured academics.
Applications from non-academic visiting professionals will also be considered if they propose an applied research project of relevance to the work of the Centre.
Researchers with lived experience of statelessness are strongly encouraged to apply.




The Centre expressly acknowledges the diversity of academics and professionals working on statelessness around the globe.
What Visiting Fellows are expected to do
Fully participate in the life and work of the Centre during the stay, including events and workshops.
Present the research in a Faculty or public seminar, or at a work-in-progress meeting.
Contribute a blog post to the Critical Statelessness Studies blog, where appropriate.
Self-funded visits
Separately from the funded Fellowship, the Centre welcomes applications from visitors able to fund their own stay.
Self-funded visitors are provided with a workspace subject to availability, along with library and computer access, and are encouraged to take part in the Centre's events and workshops.
Applications for a self-funded visit can be made year-round and must include a CV and publication list, a research plan of up to 1,000 words, proposed dates of the visit, and one letter of reference.
