FRACS-qualified Orthopaedic Surgeon
to lead the Orthopaedic Surgery Department at
Rockhampton Hospital
, the principal referral hospital for Central Queensland.
This is an outstanding opportunity to combine executive leadership with an active clinical practice, guiding the strategic direction of Orthopaedic Services while mentoring future specialists and driving innovation, education and research across the region.
The Opportunity As
Clinical Director of Orthopaedic Surgery
, you will provide strategic, operational and clinical leadership to a busy, accredited Orthopaedic Department while maintaining a minimum
0.5 FTE clinical workload
.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading the strategic direction and future development of Orthopaedic Services across Central Queensland Health
Delivering high-quality specialist Orthopaedic care within a major regional referral hospital
Driving clinical governance, patient safety and quality improvement initiatives
Leading workforce planning, recruitment and departmental performance
Supervising and mentoring Orthopaedic trainees, junior doctors and medical students
Supporting research, education and innovation within the department
Working collaboratively with executive leadership and multidisciplinary teams
Ensuring equitable, high-quality Orthopaedic services across multiple Central Queensland Health facilities

305-bed regional referral and teaching hospital

Requirements Applications are welcomed from Orthopaedic Surgeons who have:
MBBS or equivalent
Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (
FRACS
) in Orthopaedic Surgery
Specialist Registration (or eligibility) with AHPRA
Demonstrated leadership and management experience
Commitment to continuing professional development and clinical excellence
A passion for education, mentoring, research and workforce development
