Part-time (70% FTE), continuing position.
Base salary will be in the range $106,****** - $116,****** + 17% super (HEW Level 7).
Based at our St Lucia campus.

Join UQ Biological Resources (UQBR) and play a vital role in supporting world-class animal research within a best-practice ethical framework. Working as part of a collaborative, inclusive and highly skilled veterinary team, you will provide specialist veterinary support across laboratory animal facilities, helping researchers, students and staff achieve outstanding research outcomes while maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare. Key responsibilities will include:
Providing specialised animal welfare support, including health assessments, veterinary treatments, euthanasia procedures and necropsies across a range of laboratory animal species.
Advising and supporting researchers, students and other clients in animal husbandry, surgical techniques, animal ethics and safe research practices.
Contributing to the development of training programs, standard operating procedures, risk assessments and compliance documentation.
Working closely with researchers, the Animal Welfare Unit and internal stakeholders to refine protocols, enhance animal care outcomes and support high-quality research.
About You
You will be a motivated and capable veterinary professional who is passionate about animal welfare, research excellence and supporting the development of others.




Qualifications equivalent to a Bachelor of Veterinary Science with at least four years' relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience, and eligibility for veterinary registration in Queensland.
Demonstrated hands‐on veterinary experience with laboratory animals, including rodent surgery and/or advanced reproductive techniques.
Strong knowledge of veterinary medicine, surgery and animal care as applied to laboratory animal species.
Experience working with a diverse range of species, including rodents, rabbits, zebrafish and other aquatic species, sheep, pigs, poultry and wildlife.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build productive working relationships with researchers and colleagues.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and contribute effectively within a collaborative team environment.
High-level administrative, documentation and record-keeping capabilities.
Experience delivering training, mentoring or skills development programs will be highly regarded, as will experience with advanced animal monitoring systems and research technologies.
