About the Role
Prime Steel Engineering is seeking a reliable and experienced Bandsaw Operator to join our growing workshop team. This position is ideal for someone with a strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and experience operating bandsaws in a steel fabrication or engineering environment.
You will be responsible for accurately cutting steel and other materials to specification, managing material flow, and supporting workshop operations in a fast-paced production workplace.
Key Responsibilities
Operate bandsaw machinery safely and efficiently.
Accurately cut steel and other materials according to job requirements and drawings.
Adjust cutting settings, speeds, and feeds to suit different material types and sizes.
Measure and verify materials to ensure cutting accuracy and quality.
Manage and organise off-cuts for future use and stock control purposes.
Load, unload, and move materials using gantry cranes and forklifts.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area.




Work closely with production and workshop teams to meet daily and weekly targets.
Perform routine equipment checks and report maintenance issues when required.
Skills & Experience Required
Previous experience operating industrial bandsaws in a steel fabrication, manufacturing, or engineering environment.
Ability to adjust machine settings for different material specifications.
Experience handling steel products and managing off-cuts efficiently.
Current forklift licence (preferred).
Experience operating gantry cranes.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to work safely in a fast-paced workshop environment.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
