Casual Disability Support Worker – Southern Adelaide
Join a team that believes quality support should be more than simply filling a shift
Disability Axis Services (DAS) is looking for a compassionate, reliable and values-driven Casual Disability Support Worker to support clients living across the southern suburbs of Adelaide.
At DAS, we pride ourselves on providing a higher standard of support.
We take the time to understand each person, recognise their strengths and create genuine opportunities for them to build skills, confidence, independence and meaningful community connections.
We are a person-centred, Developmental Educator-led organisation.
Our support workers are valued members of the team and receive ongoing guidance from experienced professionals who understand disability, neurodivergence, trauma-informed practice and positive behaviour support.
About the role
This is a community-based position supporting people with disability to work towards their individual goals.
Depending on the person you support, your work may include:
Supporting participation in social, recreational and community activities
Building confidence when accessing new places and experiences
Developing daily living, communication and social skills
Supporting independence with appointments, shopping and everyday tasks
Creating opportunities for choice, decision-making and self-advocacy
Following individual care plans and positive behaviour support strategies
Providing encouragement, structure and respectful practical assistance
Completing clear and qualified progress notes
Our clients are primarily located throughout the southern suburbs of Adelaide.
Shifts may occur during weekdays, evenings and weekends.
Why work with DAS?
We want our staff to feel supported, capable and confident—not left to manage complex situations alone.
When you join DAS, you will receive:

A welcoming and supportive team environment
Guidance from experienced disability professionals
Clear client information, care plans and expectations
Thoughtful matching with clients wherever possible
Practical support to develop your skills and confidence
Opportunities to contribute ideas and create meaningful activities
A workplace where your observations and professional input are valued
The satisfaction of working for an organisation committed to genuine capacity building
We hold ourselves to a high standard because the people we support deserve excellent, consistent and respectful services.
We are looking for workers who share that commitment.
About you
You may be a great fit for DAS if you are:
Warm, patient and genuinely interested in people
Reliable, organised and able to communicate professionally
Respectful of each person's choices, identity and individual way of communicating
Able to support independence without taking over
Creative and willing to turn everyday activities into opportunities for skill development
Comfortable working independently in the community while remaining connected to the wider team
Available for a range of shifts, including some weekend work
Committed to providing safe, consistent and person-centred support
Previous disability support experience is valued, but your attitude, reliability and alignment with our values are equally important.
Essential requirements
Applicants will need:
A current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
A current Working with Children Check, where required
A current First Aid and CPR certificate
A valid Australian driver's licence
A reliable, registered and insured vehicle
Appropriate qualifications or relevant experience in disability, community services or a related field
The right to work in Australia
Availability to complete required training and induction
Employment is subject to satisfactory screening and reference checks.
