Position Purpose
The Role
We are seeking a reliable, hands-on and safety-focused Groundsperson to join our Facilities Maintenance Team.
This important role supports the safe, compliant and efficient maintenance of Adelaide Airport's grounds, civil infrastructure and airside environments.
Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Team Leader – Land Management, you will carry out planned and reactive maintenance across airport grounds and infrastructure, including roads, runways, taxiways, aprons, drainage, fencing, pavement line marking and landscaping.
This role is suited to someone with strong grounds, civil maintenance or farm maintenance experience who is confident operating machinery such as mowers, loaders, tractors, slashers and spray units.
The role requires someone who is comfortable working in a live aviation environment, including airside areas, where priorities can change due to operational requirements.
You will need to be reliable, safety-conscious, a strong communicator and comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team.
The role involves repetitive but important operational work, working outdoors in all weather conditions and supporting tasks such as mowing, spraying, inspections, line marking and general grounds upkeep.
While the role is primarily worked Monday to Friday, occasional night works may be required to support runway line marking activities, typically every second Sunday.
Key Accountabilities
Carry out planned and reactive grounds and civil maintenance activities across airport infrastructure, including roads, runways, taxiways, aprons, drainage, fencing,



pavement line marking and landscaping.
Operate plant and equipment, including mowers, loaders and tractors, to maintain airside and landside environments to required standards.
Undertake vegetation control, mowing, spraying and general grounds upkeep to support safety, compliance and presentation standards.
Conduct routine inspections of grounds and infrastructure, identify defects and escalate issues as required.
Respond to maintenance requests and operational issues, ensuring work is completed safely and within required timeframes.
Support airside works, including line marking activities when operational conditions and weather allow.
Work safely in a regulated airport environment, including around aircraft movements, airside roads and operational areas.
Participate in Airport Emergency Response activities, call-outs and on-call requirements as required.
Work in accordance with WHS requirements, safe work procedures, environmental requirements and airport operational standards.
Work collaboratively with the Facilities Maintenance team and broader Operations group to deliver safe, efficient and reliable outcomes.

Qualifications/Skills/Experience
Essential
Ability to obtain an Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate.
Ability to obtain a CAT 4N Adelaide Airport Ltd Airside Drivers Licence.
Ability to obtain Works Safety Officer certification.
Experience in the operation and maintenance of civil and industrial plant and equipment.
Experience in the operation of motorised equipment.
Experience in a broad range of civil maintenance works.
Knowledge of horticultural herbicides and chemicals.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and data.
Ability to obtain and maintain an aviation security clearance.
Desirable
MR Licence.
Loader Licence.
Forklift Licence.
Backhoe Licence.
Horticulture qualifications.
Elevated Work Platform (EWP) Licence.
Knowledge of WHS standards.
Knowledge of maintenance procedures.
Experience with spraying, mowing, tractors, slashers, line marking and similar grounds maintenance equipment.
