Primary purpose of position
Reporting to the Business Analyst Lead, the primary functions of the Business Analyst is to provide analytical support in relation to projects, proposals, and business case development related to business development and increasing trade through the Port of Townsville.
The Business Analyst is responsible for collecting, collating and analysing data and providing commentary across a broad range of issues affecting the growth and sustainability of the Port of Townsville.
Data and market research collection from a wide range of public and proprietary sources will be required and the ability to make recommendations and decisions on future projects and customer requirements.
Annual Salary $98,700 - $108,600 (excluding super)

Position specific responsibilities
Research, analyse and prepare data in a timely manner to assist in the preparation of high written materials and development of feasibility studies, business cases and projects throughout the Port.
Provide financial and commercial analysis in respect to project-based investment opportunities on emerging innovation and commercial development opportunities.
Investigate future trends and provide market intelligence, including assessing existing opportunities and threats of Port's external environment, comprising of industry and environmental forces, and providing appropriate recommendations.
Provide analysis and data for other business units in respect to projects, trade and financial information.
Any other duties as directed by the Business Analyst Lead.
Contribute to the Port's strategic plans including the Statement of Corporate Intent, Corporate Plan and Port Vision ****
Ensure appropriate health and safety, environmental management,
quality and information security practices are implemented for all works to comply with the Port's policies and relevant legislation
Comply with all relevant legislation, codes of practice and standard
Promote a Zero Harm culture and continual improvement in our Health and Safety management and performance.
Any other duties commensurate with level and accountabilities, or as directed by leadership.
Essential criteria
Qualifications/tickets/licences:
Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Finance or other related discipline or experience.
National Police Clerance.
Pre-employment Medical – Non-Functional.
Current Queensland C Class Driver Licence.
Skills and experience:
Experience in researching and applying commercial and analytical focus to drive strategic and sustainability priorities through strong advice, analysis and insight.
Sound knowledge of, and experience associated with, financial modelling and data analysis
Experience in or understanding of the maritime/ports industry, transport/logistics industry, and/or mining and agricultural industries to provide market intelligence interpretation and analysis .
High level ability to perform investigative and research tasks within broad bounds of project
objectives and prepare submissions and reports .
Provide support to Management and key stakeholders in the interpretation and understanding of analyzed data.
Ability to work effectively and flexibly, set priorities and independently manage variable workloads.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence outcomes in an organisation with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities in a changing setting.
Software/Systems skills:
High level of competence in all Microsoft Office applications, especially advanced excel and modelling skills.
