About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and strategic Assistant Manager to join our team.
This is a varied and hands-on role supporting the Manager and team across the day-to-day operations of the organisation, member services and industry programs.
A key component of the role will be supporting the delivery of the Smartcane Best Management Practices (BMP) program, working with local growers and industry stakeholders.
The role will also provide the chance to contribute across a range of organisational activities, with responsibilities shaped around the successful applicant's skills, experience and strengths.
Key responsibilities may include:
Support the Manager across the organisation's operational, strategic and governance activities.
Manage the delivery of the Smartcane BMP program, working with growers and industry stakeholders.
Provide quality member service and support, including responding to enquiries and maintaining strong relationships with members and stakeholders.
Support and coordinate projects, programs, workshops and events, including contributing to industry advocacy and initiatives.
Assist with staff coordination, mentoring and day-to-day team leadership.
Assist with administration, payroll, accounts, reporting, compliance and other business functions.
Prepare reports, correspondence, communications and information for members, the Board and stakeholders.
Maintain high standards of accuracy, record keeping, governance and compliance.
Identify opportunities to improve systems,



processes and services and contribute to the ongoing development of the organisation.
Work collaboratively with the team while taking ownership of responsibilities and seeing tasks and projects through to completion.
About You

What We're Looking For
We are open to candidates with a range of professional backgrounds and experience.
Experience in areas such as payroll, accounts, administration, agriculture, agronomy, project coordination, member services or a similar role would be highly regarded.
You don't need to have experience in every aspect of the position.
We are interested in finding the right person who brings strong transferable skills, initiative and a willingness to learn.
Training and support will be provided to develop your knowledge and skills in areas where required.
An understanding of the sugar industry, agriculture or the Herbert River community would be advantageous.
