Developed with cutting-edge automation, remote operations capability, and industry-leading safety systems, Aquila represents the future of underground mining in Australia.We are seeking a passionate and driven Geotechnical Engineer to join our high-performing technical team and play a critical role in supporting the safe, sustainable, and productive extraction of premium steelmaking coal.Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent,



this key role will see you:Maintain geotechnical oversight of underground operations and audit compliance with corporate standards and approved support designs.Design ground support and monitoring systems to support safe and productive mine operations.Conduct regular underground inspections to audit installed strata support and strata conditions to confirm the effectiveness in accordance with the approved support designs.Provide strategic advice to the Technical Services and Mining Operations departments on how to maximise the value of the operation.Advise management and operational staff on geotechnical issues.Manage the Strata Defect System and ensure compliance with the Geotechnical Operational Management System.Advise and assist engineers with recommendations on geotechnical and hydro-geological issues regarding mine design, planning and operations.Understand and comply with all legislative and company safety, health, environment, cost and production objectives, guidelines, procedures, and requirements relevant to the professional management of ground conditions.Provide mentoring and training to personnel with respect to strata support systems.QualificationsTertiary degree in Geotechnical Engineering or similar disciplineProven underground coal experience within a Geotechnical Engineering roleExperience with computer aided mine design programs, geotechnical software, and other business softwareRegistered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) would be highly advantageous or willingness to obtain recognition
