About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated
Wall and Floor Tiler
to join our growing team in Canberra.
The successful candidate will be responsible for completing a range of wall and floor tiling projects to a high standard while working collaboratively with clients, supervisors and other tradespeople.
Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret plans, drawings and measurements to accurately mark and lay out tiling work.
Prepare surfaces by removing existing tiles, grout and adhesive.
Fill holes, repair cracks and clean work areas to create a smooth and stable base.
Apply adhesive to surfaces and tiles, then position and secure tiles accurately.
Cut and shape tiles using hand and power tools to fit around edges, corners, fixtures and pipes.
Align and space tiles correctly to achieve a clean, level and consistent finish.
Apply grout between tiles and remove excess material to produce a polished result.
Install waterproofing systems in wet areas, including bathrooms, laundries and kitchens.
Lay floors using materials such as granolithic, terrazzo and cement-based compositions when required.
Create decorative mosaic patterns using coloured tiles where specified.
Work with ceramic, clay, slate,



porcelain, marble, natural stone and glass tiles on internal and external walls and floors.
Inspect completed work and rectify any defects or imperfections.
Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a safe and orderly condition.
Ensure all work complies with workplace health and safety requirements, quality standards and applicable licensing or registration requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling, or an equivalent relevant qualification or course of study.
A minimum of one to two years of relevant experience in wall and floor tiling or related construction work.
Demonstrated experience working with a variety of tile materials and installation methods.
Knowledge of surface preparation, waterproofing, adhesive application, tile cutting and grouting techniques.
Ability to read plans, take accurate measurements and complete detailed layouts.
Competence in using tiling hand tools, cutting equipment and power tools.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality workmanship.
Positive communication, teamwork and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
Sound understanding of workplace health and safety procedures.
