Service Coordinator & Technical Customer Support
Expert Energy Tasmania | Derwent Park, Hobart | Full-time
Expert Energy Tasmania is looking for an organised, technically minded person to join our office team as the first point of contact for service customers.
This varied front-of-house role combines customer service, administration, job coordination and initial technical support.
You'll help customers explain what is happening with their solar, battery or electrical system, gather the right information, coordinate our field team and keep each job moving through to resolution.
For the right person, there will also be an opportunity to assist with sales overflow by responding to warm enquiries, preparing straightforward proposals and helping prospective customers move towards the right solution.
You don't need to be an electrician, but you do need to be comfortable learning technical systems, asking good questions and turning sometimes unclear customer enquiries into clear actions.
About the role
Your responsibilities will include:
Answering incoming calls and service enquiries
Acting as the primary point of contact for service customers
Gathering photos, system information, fault details and diagnostic information
Helping identify whether an issue requires remote support, monitoring, a service booking or urgent attendance
Scheduling technicians and coordinating appointments
Managing jobs from initial enquiry through to completion
Keeping customers informed about progress, timing and next steps
Preparing job information, service documentation and customer reports
Coordinating product warranty claims with manufacturers and suppliers
Maintaining accurate customer and job records in our CRM and service systems
Following up outstanding information, quotes, approvals and completed work
Working closely with our electricians, installers, management team and suppliers
Assisting with general office administration when required
Depending on your experience and capabilities, the position may also include:
Responding to overflow solar, battery, electrical and heating enquiries
Qualifying prospective customers and understanding their requirements
Preparing straightforward proposals and pricing
Explaining suitable products and system options
Following up warm leads and existing proposals
Coordinating more complex opportunities with our sales and technical teams
Sales experience is not essential.
We are primarily looking for someone who communicates well, understands customer needs and can learn to confidently explain technical products without using a high-pressure sales approach.
About you
You will be well suited to this position if you:
Communicate clearly and confidently by phone and email
Are patient and helpful when customers are frustrated or unsure how to describe a problem
Have strong organisation, scheduling and follow-through skills
Can manage multiple active jobs without losing track of details
Are comfortable using CRMs, job-management platforms and other computer systems
Enjoy learning how technical products and systems work
Can gather information methodically and explain it clearly
Take ownership of problems and follow them through to a practical outcome
Can identify customer needs and recommend appropriate next steps
Work well independently and as part of a small team
Experience in customer service, service coordination, trades administration, technical support, sales, electrical, solar or a similar industry would be highly regarded.
However, technical curiosity, sound judgement and a willingness to learn are more important than already knowing every product.
