Remuneration: $53.43 p/hr + Super + NFP Salary Packaging (save tax and increase your take home pay)

Your part in our Uniting Care team

As a Child Sexual Abuse Counsellor within our HOPES (Healing, Opportunity, Prevention, Education Sexual Abuse Service) team, you’ll provide meaningful therapeutic support to children and young people who have experienced abuse, as well as their non-offending parents and carers.

You’ll deliver individual counselling for children and young people aged 5 to under 18 years, working closely with families, carers and key stakeholders to support healing, safety and recovery. This includes therapeutic and family/carer support, assessments and individual case planning tailored to each client’s needs.

In this role, you will:

- Provide therapeutic assessment, counselling and education services to children, young people and their families.
- Develop individual case plans and maintain accurate case notes, documentation and reports.
- Work collaboratively with Child Safety, external agencies and internal stakeholders to achieve positive client outcomes.
- Participating in supervision, reflective practice and ongoing professional development.
- Contribute to service improvement initiatives and evidence-informed practice.

What makes a difference for us?

- A degree in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, Behavioural Science or a related Human Services discipline.
- Eligibility for membership or registration with AASW, APS, ACA, PACFA or another recognised professional body.




- Experience providing therapeutic counselling interventions for children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse.
- Strong knowledge of trauma-informed practice and child development.
- Solid communication, assessment and report-writing skills.
- Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or the ability to obtain.
- Experience with play therapy and an understanding of the Queensland Child Protection system will be highly regarded.
