Are you an experienced full-stack engineering leader ready to shape the next generation of retail technology solutions used by retailers around the world?

We're partnering with a global leader in retail technology to recruit a Developer Lead for their Sydney-based engineering team. This is a high-impact role where you'll architect and deliver sophisticated software features, lead a cross-functional Agile team, and drive DevSecOps excellence across modern cloud-native platforms.

The Opportunity

You'll take ownership of full-stack development-from modern Vue.js / TypeScript frontends through to robust Java microservices and NoSQL persistence layers-while embedding security, automation and observability into every stage of the delivery pipeline. This is a genuine leadership opportunity to mentor engineers, raise engineering standards and influence the technical direction of critical retail platforms.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead a cross-functional development team within an Agile framework, ensuring high-quality delivery against project goals and timelines
- Design and implement features across the full stack (Vue.js/TypeScript, Java microservices, MongoDB/CosmosDB)
- Champion DevSecOps practices including CI/CD optimisation, infrastructure-as-code (Ansible/AWX) and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm)
- Contribute across the entire SDLC-from design and coding through testing, deployment and production support
- Collaborate with architects, QA and product stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable solutions




- Drive observability using the ELK stack, Prometheus and Grafana
- Mentor team members and foster a culture of continuous improvement, code quality and engineering excellence

About YouMust-haves

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience
- 8+ years across the full software development lifecycle
- 5+ years skilled Java development (OpenJDK) with strong OOP fundamentals; experience with Maven and static analysis tools
- 5+ years building modern web frontends with strong proficiency in Vue.js and TypeScript
- 5+ years working in Agile/Scrum environments with proven experience leading cross-functional engineering teams

Highly regarded

- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes and Helm
- CI/CD (Jenkins) and deployment automation with Ansible/AWX
- NoSQL databases (MongoDB, CosmosDB) and messaging technologies (Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar)
- Observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
- Test automation frameworks and static code analysis
- Microservices architecture, RESTful APIs and event-driven patterns
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with international stakeholders
