About the Role

This is a senior, hands-on safety engineering role responsible for the safety and reliability of complex systems across their full lifecycle. You'll identify hazards, assess risk and embed safety requirements into design and development, working closely with engineering teams and stakeholders across a major, long-running program. Reporting to an Engineering Supervisor, you'll play a key technical role within a broader System Safety Working Group.

Duties





- Define safety requirements and integrate them into design
- Identify hazards and run risk assessments (FTA, FMEA)
- Develop and execute test plans to validate safety measures
- Conduct HAZOP and other safety analyses on root causes
- Prepare safety cases, reports and supporting documentation
- Maintain the project Hazard Log and safety artefacts
- Participate in system safety reviews and working groups
- Advise engineering staff on safety methods and best practice

Skills and Experience

- Tertiary qualification in Engineering (essential)
- Chartered Professional Engineer status (desirable)
- Background in safety system engineering, ideally on complex, large-scale programs
- Sound knowledge of safety standards (e.g. ISO 26262, MIL-STD-882, IEC 61508)
- Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to influence engineering and project stakeholders
- Australian citizenship and eligibility for a government security clearance required
