Your next career opportunity
In this Senior Engineering Operations Coordinator role, you will make engineering workshops, makerspaces and informal student spaces safe, reliable and welcoming places to learn, teach and create. You will coordinate training, maintenance and technical support so users can move from early prototypes to working demonstrators with confidence.

What you will deliver:

Plan, coordinate and monitor inductions, competency‑based training and supervised practical sessions across makerspaces and workshops.

Develop and maintain preventative maintenance plans to ensure safe, reliable operation of equipment and shared spaces.

Oversee inventory management and procurement so consumables and materials are available when students and staff need them.

Act as a key contact for users, clarifying requirements and directing them to appropriate technical spaces or services.

Collaborate with the Workshop and Makerspace Cluster and subject coordinators to align operational planning with teaching and research needs.

You may be a great fit if you:

Hold a relevant degree or trade qualification, or bring equivalent experience in technical or engineering environments.

Coordinate operational activities, including training, maintenance scheduling and inventory management in workshops,



labs or similar settings.

Apply sound knowledge of Australian occupational health and safety legislation in practical, hands‑on environments.

Produce and interpret engineering drawings to support design, fabrication and prototyping activities.

Bring experience in workshops, makerspaces, laboratories or experiential learning environments within or beyond higher education.

Offer technical skills such as machining, mechatronics, electronics, digital fabrication, CAD or related capabilities.

Your new team
You will join the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology’s Infrastructure team, working within the Workshop, Makerspaces and Engagement group. This collaborative team underpins safe,



hands‑on education and research by running technical spaces, coordinating training and maintaining equipment. You will work closely with colleagues across laboratory services, infrastructure operations and health, safety and wellbeing, gaining exposure to diverse projects while helping deliver consistent, high‑quality experiences for students and staff.
