Alice Springs Hospital is seeking an experienced Midwife to join its Maternity team on a short-term contract basis. This is a 4-6 week position commencing 17 December 2026, offering the opportunity to work across a agile birthing suite, antenatal, and postnatal environment in Alice Springs, Northern Territory. The successful candidate will bring clinical expertise and a commitment to supporting women and families through pregnancy, labour, and the early postnatal period.

- Work across Birthing Suite, Antenatal, and Postnatal settings in a busy regional hospital
- 4-6 week contract starting 17 December 2026
- Grade N2 Midwife position with scope to make a real difference in maternal care

Preferred Requirements

- Demonstrated clinical experience in maternity care, including labour support and postnatal management




- Ability to work flexibly across multiple maternity settings and respond to changing clinical needs
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Current knowledge of relevant clinical guidelines and best practice in midwifery
- Commitment to providing woman-centred, culturally sensitive care

Preferred Qualifications

- Recognised qualification in Midwifery or equivalent professional registration
- Minimum two years of clinical experience in maternity or midwifery practice
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Midwife
