We're seeking a reliable and motivated Mechanic to join a busy construction equipment hire business in Canberra.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on mechanical work, variety and being part of a supportive workshop team. You'll diagnose, service and repair a diverse fleet of construction equipment, helping keep machinery safe, reliable and ready for customers.

About the Role

Working alongside an experienced mechanical and operations team, you'll be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing and repairing the company's fleet of construction equipment.

No two days will be exactly the same. You'll work across preventative maintenance, scheduled servicing, diagnostics, breakdowns and repairs while helping ensure equipment is maintained to a high standard.

This is a full-time permanent position, predominantly Monday to Friday, with some Saturday work required depending on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

- Diagnose mechanical faults and equipment issues
- Service, maintain and repair construction equipment and machinery
- Carry out preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and basic electrical faults
- Complete equipment inspections and safety checks
- Identify required parts and assist with repair planning
- Respond to equipment breakdowns when required
- Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
- Work closely with mechanics,



yard staff and operations teams
- Ensure equipment is safe, reliable and ready for hire
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment

Skills & Experience

We're looking for someone with:

- Previous mechanical, workshop or equipment maintenance experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding ability
- Confidence working with tools, machinery and mechanical systems
- Ability to diagnose problems and complete repairs efficiently
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to safety and quality
- Reliable attitude and willingness to learn
- Current Driver's Licence
- Availability to work occasional Saturdays when required

Highly Regarded

- Construction equipment or plant experience
- Equipment hire industry experience
- Automotive or agricultural machinery background
- Hydraulic fault-finding experience
- Relevant mechanical trade qualification

Candidates with strong practical mechanical experience from construction, plant, automotive, agricultural or similar mechanical environments are encouraged to apply.
