Community Mentor (NDIS)

ATC Work Smart is seeking a kind, dependable and capable person to join our NDIS team as a casual NDIS Mentor.

You will provide practical, participant-led support that helps people build confidence, independence, everyday life skills, community participation and work readiness. Support may include individual mentoring, practical activities, community-based learning and small-group programs.

Each session has a purpose and is linked to the participant’s individual goals. This is not a passive companionship role.

About the role

Your responsibilities will include:

- Providing respectful, participant-led one-to-one support

- Supporting participants with routines, communication, goal planning and practical skill development

- Helping deliver activities focused on life skills, confidence, teamwork and work readiness

- Supporting participants in workshop, kitchen and community settings

- Breaking tasks into manageable steps and adapting your approach to different learning and communication needs

- Encouraging participants to do things for themselves rather than taking over

- Completing accurate session notes and reporting changes in support needs or participant wellbeing

- Following support plans, organisational policies, safeguarding requirements and professional boundaries

- Working closely with the NDIS Coordinator and other team members.

About you

Previous disability support experience and formal qualifications are not essential. We are more interested in your character, mindset and the way you treat people.

- Genuinely interested in helping people develop skills and become more independent

Requirements

The successful applicant must hold or be willing to obtain:

- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module

- National Police Clearance (no older than 6 months)

- A Working with Children Check

- A current C/CA driver’s licence and the ability to travel locally

- Any other screening, induction or training required by ATC Work Smart.
