Council Trainee – Parks & Gardens

About the Opportunity

Looking for a hands-on career where you can learn while you work?

Join our Parks and Open Spaces team as a Trainee – Horticulture and gain practical workplace experience while completing a Certificate II in Horticulture.

Working alongside experienced team members, you'll learn how to care for and maintain Council's parks, gardens and public spaces. You'll develop practical skills in areas such as planting, gardening, mowing, pruning, weed management, using horticultural tools and equipment, and working safely outdoors.

No previous experience is required. This is a great opportunity for a recent Year 10, 11 or 12 school leaver who enjoys being outdoors, likes working with their hands and is interested in starting a career in horticulture.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

- Enjoys working outdoors.
- Has an interest in plants, gardening or parks.
- Is reliable, enthusiastic and willing to learn.
- Works well as part of a team.
- Can follow instructions and work safely.
- Takes pride in their work and is willing to give recent things a go.

Eligibility

To apply, you must:

- Be 15 years of age or older.
- Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Not already hold a qualification in the same or a related field.





You don't need previous work experience or a horticulture qualification to apply.
