The Department for Infrastructure and Transport plays a vital role connecting people and places in South Australia by delivering a multi-billion-dollar pipeline of transport and social infrastructure projects, operating and maintaining thousands of kilometres of roads and managing our city's public transport network
The Opportunity
Oversee the Vehicle Engineering and Standards Unit, delivering expert engineering advice to support national policy development and vehicle operations. The role ensures compliance through interpretation of Australian Design Rules, standards and manufacturer specifications, and oversees resolution of complex engineering matters. Contribute to safe, effective outcomes by guiding initiatives, evaluating policy impacts, and providing specialist advice across vehicle regulation and standards.
About You

Educational Qualifications/Licenses
Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering, or equivalent
Special Conditions
- A National Police Check (NPC)
which is required prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport and is required to be renewed every three years.
- A Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, which must be renewed every five years before expiry.
- Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.
