This is a hands on commercial role for someone who can embed themselves within the project team, work independently and become a trusted support to the Project Manager. Strong commercial judgement, maturity and temperament are key.
The Role
You will take ownership of contract administration, procurement and commercial event management, ensuring the project is commercially protected and contractual requirements are met.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage day-to-day contract administration and procurement across the project
- Support procurement activities including subcontractor/supplier engagement, scopes, RFQs, commercial reviews, negotiations and contract awards
- Establish and maintain procurement, contract and commercial event registers
- Identify, track and manage variations, delays, acceleration and other commercial events
- Prepare contractual notices, variation submissions, claims and EOTs
- Work with the project team to ensure commercial events are identified and evidenced contemporaneously
- Maintain detailed evidence packs and contractual records for complex or disputed matters
- Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, standards, codes and PPRs
- Use systems including Procore and Autodesk
- Provide commercial support and constructive challenge to the Project Manager
- Support negotiations with clients, subcontractors and suppliers and confidently protect the project's commercial position
About You
We are looking for someone with:
- 5+ years' construction contract administration experience on $50m+ projects
- Solid energy-sector construction experience
- Proven experience across contracts, procurement, variations, claims and commercial management
- A sound understanding of contract administration and contractual entitlement
- Experience establishing and maintaining CA and procurement systems and registers
- Strong attention to detail and a disciplined, systematic approach
- Experience with Procore and/or Autodesk
- The confidence to negotiate and robustly defend a commercial position
- Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to remain calm, measured and solutions-focused under pressure
EPC and renewable energy experience is highly desirable but commercial maturity and the right temperament are more important.
