ACOM international

Carrum Downs

ACOM International is a growing Australian business with a portfolio of retail and consumer brands, including Bush Tracks and Barbeques Galore.

We source products from Australian and international suppliers and sell through retail, wholesale, e-commerce and online marketplaces.

As the business continues to grow, we are looking for a Demand Planner to take ownership of forecasting and inventory planning across our brands.

The role

We have reached the point where demand planning needs a dedicated owner.

You will be responsible for helping us determine what stock we need, how much we should order and when it needs to arrive. The goal is straightforward: keep our products available without tying up too much cash in excess inventory.

Many of our products are imported and have long production and shipping lead times. This means the purchasing decisions we make today can affect product availability several months from now. Good forecasting, early risk identification and explicit communication will be important.

This is a hands-on, standalone role reporting to the COO / CEO. You will work closely with sales, buying, product, finance, operations, warehouse teams and suppliers.

You will also have the opportunity to improve how we forecast and plan inventory as the business grows.

What you’ll be doing

• Build and maintain forecasts at SKU, brand and sales-channel level.

• Review sales history, seasonal trends, promotions, stockouts and changes in customer demand.

• Prepare forecasts for new products where there is limited or no sales history.

• Turn forecasts into clear replenishment and purchasing recommendations.

• Factor supplier minimum order quantities, production times, international shipping and warehouse receiving times into your planning.

• Monitor stock levels across warehouses and sales channels.

• Identify possible stock shortages early and recommend ways to protect sales.

• Highlight excess, ageing and slow-moving stock before it becomes a larger problem.

• Plan inventory requirements for promotions, product launches and major retail events.

• Compare forecasts with actual sales and explain the reasons for significant differences.

• Work with suppliers and internal teams to track purchase orders, production and inbound deliveries.

• Maintain accurate product data, supplier lead times and planning assumptions.

• Prepare different demand and supply scenarios when sales, lead times or supplier conditions change.

• Help improve ACOM’s forecasting, reporting and inventory-planning processes.

What we’re looking for

You will ideally have around two to four years’ experience in demand planning, inventory planning, replenishment, merchandise planning or supply planning.

You should also have:

• Experience forecasting demand and managing inventory across a broad range of SKUs.

• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas and data analysis.

• Experience using an ERP, inventory-management or planning system.

• A practical understanding of stock cover, lead times, safety stock and inventory turnover.

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot issues in the numbers.

• A commercial mindset and an understanding of how inventory decisions affect sales, customers and cash flow.

• The confidence to question assumptions and recommend a different approach when the data supports it.

• Good communication skills and the ability to work with people across different areas of the business.

• The initiative to follow problems through rather than simply reporting them.

Experience with imported products and long international lead times would be particularly useful.

Experience in retail, wholesale, e-commerce, marketplaces, Shopify or Power BI would also be well regarded, but it is not essential.

How we’ll measure success

Success in this role will be measured through:

• Forecast accuracy.

• Product availability and stockout rates.

• Inventory turnover and weeks of stock cover.

• Excess, ageing and obsolete inventory.

• Supplier and inbound delivery performance.

• Working capital invested in inventory.

Why join ACOM?

This is a genuine opportunity to take ownership of demand planning rather than step into a narrowly defined position.

You will work across several brands, a wide product range and different sales channels. Your recommendations will have a direct impact on purchasing, product availability and business performance.

You will also work closely with senior decision-makers and have the opportunity to help build a stronger demand-planning function as ACOM continues to grow.

Interested?

If you enjoy working with data, solving inventory problems and turning forecasts into practical decisions, we would like to hear from you.

Apply through SEEK with your CV and a short cover letter outlining your relevant planning and inventory experience.
